HAPPY 2015!

I hope this counts towards the DotW January MSE!

My main focus was on background, colors, different types of brushes, and other various effects. I started out with a black textured brush and painted the foremost trees, later painting the ones behind on bottom layers and lowering the opacity. I also attempted to paint snow, and I have to say that I'm not ashamed with the results. There's still something off that bugs me about the picture though. Maybe it's Phen, who's just sitting there for no reason?

I also used a ridiculous amount of overlay in order to manipulate the colors a little bit.

I had to download some nature brushes for the ferns and I used a default textured brush for the grass. I also downloaded a cloud brush for the clouds.
I usually hate drawing backgrounds but this was actually a lot of fun! So thank you admins for making this MSE so I could try something new. Hopefully my backgrounds in the future will look a little less terrible.



- This scene takes place in a small patch of spruce forest, just around Brisbane Woods where the Vale is now. Except Phen stumbled upon this area before the pack was established and only rested here momentarily to refuel and get some rest. She's just woken up and is still kind of brooding about her scuffle with Stallion (hence the scars on her face). But they'll fade with time. She's also gotten a tad bit thinner and more tired-looking due to her inexperience as a loner.

She smells wolves in the distance too. AN ENTIRE HOARD OF THEM LED BY 50+ NEW USERS. Ohgod.
